Super Freezer Weight Limitation in Japan

We regret to inform you that we have been having several incidents lately that some cargoes arrive Japan exceeding the weight limitation for the inland transportation. Unfortunately, in some cases, it caused extra operations and additional arrangements at both the consignee and Maersk Line.

On this occasion, we would like to re-inform you that the weight of the cargo you could put into the Super Freezer container (i.e., payload) is 24,000 KGS. Precisely, the Japan Road Traffic Law stipulates the limitation of the inland transportation as 30,480 KGS. However, it is the total weight of cargo, container, and generator.

We sincerely ask for your cooperation to adhere to the legal regulation. It enables both the consignee and Maersk to arrange a smooth transportation in Japan.

In case it is stuffed the cargo more than 24,000 KGS, the extra cost for handling the overweight container will be at customer’s expense.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your local customer service representative.

Yours Sincerely,
Customer Service team
Maersk Line A/S
