Featuring its own purpose-built container freight station, trucking fleet, operating Fiji’s largest container depot company with hire and sales capability, less-than-container load (LCL) forwarding, an in-house air freight and customs clearance team and featuring Fiji’s only portable digital container weighing solution provider with experienced and qualified professionals engaged in the team to deliver premium quality service to its customers. We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified, innovative and self-driven professional to be based in Suva for the position of Transport Manager.
Key responsibilities will include:
- • Assist in the recruitment of quality drivers into the fleet.
- • Developing efficient driver schedules to maximise profits.
- • Managing drivers so they adhere to strict schedules.
- • Registering and licensing all vehicles under their management.
- • Maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection.
- • Complying with local authority laws and regulations.
- • Maintain good relationships with customers, local port terminals, container depots,
- and other relevant authorities.
- • Scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency
- • Ensure that all purchases for mechanical repairs are in accordance to the SSFL Financial Instructions
- Actively market the transport services on offer.
- • Purchasing and maintaining vehicles for deliveries.
- • Analysing data to increase business operational efficiency.
- • Utilising GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles.
Position Competencies and Personal Attributes
- Maintain and repair company fleets and plant,• Ensure that all tools and equipment are all good and fit condition always.
- • Able to work after normal working hours.
- • Outstanding organizational skills
- • Exceptional interpersonal skills
- • Excellent written and verbal communication.
- • Possess a Group 2, 6, 7 & 9 driving license.
- • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Education & Work Experience
- Proven relevant work experience of more than 3 years with valuable knowledge towards the job
- Experience in the transport and shipping industry
- Knowledge in OHS and dangerous goods
